Connery named best Bond

Sean ConnerySean Connery has beaten George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan in ‘the best James Bond of all time’ poll, run by SFX magazine.

SFX editor Dave Bradley said: “Everyone has their own memories about their favourite James Bond.

“Connery was the quintessential Bond – he was so strong in the role that even though successive generations in the meantime have grown up with their own James Bonds, Connery is the still the ultimate 007.”

Green: Sean’s my favourite Bond

Eva Green, who plays Vesper Lynd in ‘Casino Royale’, has revealed that Sean Connery was her favourite actor to play James Bond.

The french actress said: “Sean is my favourite Bond because he looks quite naughty.”

She added: “I’ve seen Bond movies like anybody. I was never a big fan. I didn’t have any posters in my bedroom.”

Connery in ballet revelation

The ex-wife of Sir Sean Connery, Diane Cilento, has revealed in her autobiography ‘My Nine Lives’ that the former Bond star wrote a ballet called ‘Black Lake’.

She wrote: “[It was] very good, great even. He was very serious about it. He could hear it all in his head. It was like Swan Lake, but far more Macbethian and more classical ballet than modern.”

Campbell: Craig is the best Bond actor!

Casino Royale director Martin Campbell has given the highest possible praise to new Bond Daniel Craig by saying that he’s a better actor than previous 007 stars Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.

Campbell said: “I am convinced that Craig is the best actor who has ever played James Bond.

“We show that Bond will suffer from emotional and physical pain. Honestly, we couldn’t do that with Pierce.”

Health scare for Connery

Former James Bond star Sir Sean Connery has had an operation to remove a cyst from his kidney.

The Scot told The Sunday Times: “I was opened in five places.”

A spokesman for the actor said: “The results were perfect and he’s completely recovered.”

A close friend to the 75-year-old reportedly said: “Sean makes light of everything. He takes it in his stride and just gets on with it. He was ordered to rest in the Bahamas over the last few weeks where he got in [sports channel] Setanta so he could watch all the Scottish football. He was kicking every ball in Rangers’ European run.”

No hoax for Hadden
